Kizuna
Singapore | 2020
Hand-crafted nostalgia.
A neighbourhood cafe that is passionate about coffee, people and sustainability. “Kizuna”, meaning “bonds”, is about fostering connections among people and with the environment - connecting them through the love of coffee and a sense of commnunity.
A hand-crafted approach was opted in favor over the clean pristine look of modern cafes. Recycled timber roof battens from another construction project site was used to clad the entrance portal and counter. Rough plastered walls were hand troweled to give the cafe's textural backdrop and chipped terracotta brick tiles exudes warmth and a sense of nostalgia to the overall café atmosphere - coupled with upcycled elements from the old bakery that formerly occupied the space.
