VILLA IN A HOUSE
Singapore | 2022
Villa in a House takes reference from villa compounds with detached wings and annexes, but compressed and stacked into a single building form.
As a semi-detached typology, the entire dwelling was detached from the neighbour, with only the stair and lift core attached to the party wall. This also offers opportunity to bring in controlled daylight and ventilation through vertical windows overlooking the side courtyard while maintaining a degree of privacy. The outer bedrooms were pulled apart creating slits in the building form to allow natural light and ventilation into all communal spaces through pockets of balcony and greenery.
